Dear Students, Staff and Families,
As winter approaches I want to remind everyone of the district procedures regarding the
cancellation of school, delayed openings, and/or early closings.
NO SCHOOL OR DELAYED SCHOOL OPENING PROCEDURES
Announcements will be broadcast through Parent Square, the District website, and the
television stations listed below. If possible, these announcements will be broadcast beginning at
5:30 AM. Please do not call the schools, M&J Bus Company, or the TV stations, as it ties up
telephone lines that may be needed for emergencies. While Parent Square is a reliable option,
you may also want to sign up for Early Warning Text/Email Alerts at one of the stations listed
below.

The schedule for a 2-hour delayed opening of school is as follows:

EARLY CLOSING PROCEDURE
A decision to close school early due to inclement weather and rapidly changing weather
conditions will generally be announced by 9:00AM on Parent Square and through the TV
stations listed above. When schools are dismissed early, the following will also be canceled: PM
Pre-K, all afternoon Early Childhood Program classes, extracurricular activities, and after-school
community activities.
The schedule for an early closing is detailed below:

Unfortunately, many of the storms that impact our part of the state can have vastly different
outcomes based upon one or two degrees. At the same time, we recognize the importance of
making a decision early enough to notify staff, families and the bus company. With that in mind,
please know that every decision to close school or delay the start of school is made in the
interest of safety of students and staff with the forecast available to us at that time.
