Mr. Daniel P. Sullivan, III
Superintendent, Colchester Public Schools
127 Norwich Avenue, Suite 202
Colchester, CT 06415
Dear Mr. Sullivan,
I am writing to express my sincerest gratitude and admiration to you, the teachers, and school personnel for
your truly outstanding efforts following the electrical issue and fire at Colchester Elementary School on
Sunday.
The speed and efficiency with which your team coordinated to provide a safe and welcoming environment
for students on Monday was nothing short of remarkable. To be able to pivot so effectively, utilizing two
other schools as host sites and ensuring students were back in a learning environment with only a two-hour
delay, is a testament to your team’s incredible dedication and professionalism.
This proactive and well-executed response not only prioritized the safety and well-being of our children but
also prevented the need for an additional school day at the end of the year, which is a significant relief for
families. The seamlessness of the entire process, despite the unexpected challenges, is truly impressive.
Please know that your hard work, quick thinking, and unwavering commitment to your students do not go
unnoticed. This was an amazing display of teamwork and problem-solving, and it is well reflected on every
team member at Colchester Public Schools.
Thank you again for your exceptional efforts.
Sincerely,
JOE COURTNEY
