Donna Antonacci called the Curriculum Committee Meeting to order at 1:07 PM.

3.1 Approval of minutes from 1/13/2025 Curriculum Committee Meeting

4. PRIORITY DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS
4.1 Bacon Academy Graduation Requirements
The committee reviewed the proposed changes to graduation requirements. Mrs. Begue shared
insights from her discussions with teacher leaders at Bacon Academy to gather their input.
Additionally, she conducted a comparison of graduation requirements across other local
districts. She presented data from 12 neighboring towns, outlining their respective graduation
criteria for reference.

Board of Education regular meeting on April 13, 2025.

4.2 Bacon Academy Math
The committee discussed the Bacon Academy math curriculum with Mrs. Begue. She and
Assistant Superintendent Kuckel provided an overview of the course sequence and curriculum.
4.3 William J. Johnston Middle School Exploration Courses
Assistant Principal Dr. Ewings and eighth-grade science teacher Bonnie McAneny presented
the pilot Explorations course for WJJMS, set to launch in 2025-2026. Designed to integrate core
subjects and ease the transition to Bacon Academy, each session will run for 22 days, or half a
quarter.
The committee reviewed upcoming changes to the 2025-2026 WJJMS schedule. The new
WINN (“What I Need Now”) block will provide targeted support for intervention, enrichment, and
activities such as chorus or band.
The Committee scheduled the next meeting for Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
