Mr. Sullivan:
I am requesting that the Board of Education consider setting the date of the June 2023
Commencement Ceremony. Being the single largest event at Bacon Academy each year, the
ceremony has a large impact on many families. I have heard from several parents that being
able to plan around a specific date would be a benefit in terms of coordination with out of town
family members and planning of celebrations. Bacon Academy staff would also be able to
complete many organizational tasks related to the ceremony earlier with a firm date
established. The request to set the date would eliminate the uncertainty of graduation in the
event of inclement weather days.
As such, I am requesting that Friday, June 16, 2023 be established as the date for the
Commencement Ceremony for Bacon Academy’s Class of 2023. In the event of inclement
weather, the commencement would be held indoors in the school gym, as is our normal
secondary location.
Please advise me if any further information is needed as a result of this request.
