Dr. McDowell,
Since September of 1989 | have served the children of Colchester in grades PK-5.
After 5 referendums the budget passed in late August(1989) | then had a choice to work
either with our elementary or middle school population. | chose to work with our
youngest students. In the past 33 plus years I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my experience as
an educator and for the remainder of this school year will give it my best as I’ve always
done.
Having grown up in Colchester and been a product of our schools I’ve certainly
valued my experience as a student as well as the one I’ve been as educator. Having
started at a later age (34) | feel it is time after what will be 34 years to end my teaching
career in the Colchester Public Schools system. My entire career has been spent here
in Colchester and | will cherish each year as if it were my first one.
It is my intent to retire as a public school Health and Physical Educator at the end of
this school year. Please know it has been an honor and a privilege to teach countless
students and to work with the same outstanding educators that I’ve experienced in my
career. To my Health and Physical Education colleagues over the years, thanks so
much. The community of Colchester, its parents, its students, and families, will remain
in my heart and my mind forever. Thanks for the opportunity to the Colchester Board of
Education, my Administrators, and all that made my career truly one that | can be proud
of for years to come.
