Dear Ms. Begue, Mrs. Cyr, Mr. Hewes, and any concerned:

I regret to inform you that I will be resigning from my teaching position at Bacon
Academy as of this date Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022.1 would like to thank my
colleagues Kelly Blain, Stephen Byrne, Karen Christianson, Kaylee Manning, Rafe
Manning, Peggy Smigel, Dave Williams, and Sam Norman for their compassion,
expertise, and collegiality. I will miss them. They are good, solid people who love
their jobs and work incredibly hard to ensure that students have the best of
everything. I know that our students will flourish as readers under their care.

1 also want to thank Sabine Januski and Karen Christianson for their wisdom and
positivity ~ they are two pretty awesome, pretty inspirational ladies. Sabine is an
incredibly helpful coach and a profoundly valuable resource who will undoubtedly
prove an indispensable asset to our school. Karen is an irreplaceable force, a
grounded and humble master teacher who reminded me what it means to teach
from the heart, and who has always been a pillar of the English the department. Her
wisdom and gentleness gave me hope and purpose on some of my toughest days.
Actually - | could say the same about Susan McKiernan. What an absolute gem.

Of course, I will miss my students very much, especially this year’s graduating
seniors. They were my babies here - my first class, and | am graduating with them.
They are curious, ambitious, and - most importantly - kind young people with bright
futures.

Finally, | would like to thank the faculty and administration. It is clear to me that the
Bacon Academy faculty and administration is dedicated to the holistic education of
their students: | see it every day. Students are the priority. Thank you to Melissa,
Amy, and Charles for constructive, helpful feedback and fair evaluations; for trusting
a rookie, and giving me enough space and time to hone my craft. They did so with
the utmost grace. | know that I will grow as a teacher in the coming years, but I
doubt that my growth will be as exponential as it was at Bacon Academy.

I wish everyone nothing but the best, and [ am confident that the school will
continue to grow into a nurturing environment where students feel safe to be who
they are and to explore what makes them tick.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Butler
