1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Tomasi called the meeting to order at 5:00PM.
2. *PRIORITY DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION ITEMS:
2.1 *Selection of Committee Chair
Motion by: J. Morozowich
To nominate Joanne Rose as Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee
Second by: A. Domeika
Vote: Unanimous
Roll call: A. Domeika, J. Morozowich, S. Hickey
2.2 *Dates of Meetings
Proposed meeting dates will be presented for approval at the DEI Committee meeting
on February 10, 2021 at 5:00PM.
2.3 Committee Goals
Members discussed working collaboratively with the Town’s DEI committee, reviewed
mission statement, shared that they are seeking outside assistance from Lisa Tatko of
the National Conference for Community and Justice, discussed foundational training
of CPS staff and the DEI Committee on racism and white privilege, courageous
conversations, framework for best practices in social justice in our schools, member
expectations, policy review, hiring review, use of surveys, and responsibilities of
administration.
2.4 Priorities for Next Meeting
Chair Rose will confirm that Lisa Tatko of the National Conference for Community
and Justice will join the meeting on February 10, 2021. Discussion ensued on
protocols for developing working documents, roles and responsibilities of the Board of
Education and CPS administration, and establishing frequency of meeting dates.
