Subject: In support of mask mandate

Dear BOE members,

I am writing to support a mask mandate for all Colchester public schools. I have
contacted Governor Lamont to extend the mask mandate in schools. Without this
mandate, our children are vulnerable to illness and our school district is
vulnerable to lawsuits. In the U.S. over 400 children died of COVID-19 last year.
The Delta variant is more contagious. Without a mandate, we will have more
disruptive school closures, at minimum. More importantly, CT could add to the
tally of children who will die from COVID-19. Connecticut must protect education
and children by mandating masks in our schools.

Sincerely,

Todd Szoka

(parent of incoming 1st grade student)
