1. Students will experience positive self-esteem through the opportunity to collaborate with others,
celebrate and share their writing, fifth grade curricula and presentation skills with others.
2. Students will learn to trust, depend on, and motivate each other to reach a common goal.
3. Students will work as part of a class, grade level, and school community members.
4. Students will experience the personal joy, pride and satisfaction of expressing themselves through
their writing/singing, dancing and the art of theater.
5. Students will improve their persuasive writing, conflict resolution, scriptwriting and research skills.
6. Students will work cooperatively to write, edit, and perform original stories, poems, scripts,
curriculum based dances, and compositions.
7. Students will use all of their multiple intelligences to bring a segment of the fifth grade curricula to
life through music, dancing, theater and reader’s theater.
8. Teachers will receive training from the artist in strategies for teaching writing, collaborating on a
group writing project and for utilizing drama to enhance instruction.
9. Parents will have a greater knowledge of the daily JJIS culture through their attendance at the final
productions.
10. Students will learn specific playwriting skills including creating, and scripting dialogue and scene
development.
