Chair C. McGlynn called the meeting to order at 5:33PM.

4.1 January 25, 2021 minutes

5. *PRIORITY DISCUSSION/POSSIBLE ACTION ITEMS: POLICIES/REGULATIONS
FOR A FIRST READING
5.1 *Authorizing Minor Policy Edits
Superintendent requested that the Policy Committee consider allowing the
Superintendent to make minor adjustments to policies such as re-establishing
policy series numbers, fixing grammatical or spelling errors, adjusting titles as
needed. The committee will be informed of any changes in the nonsubstantive
section of meetings; changes will also be forwarded to the full BOE for
information.
5.2 *1325P Advertising and Promotion in the School System
The Committee discussed the CABE policy that was presented as an update to the
existing CPS policy. The District receives many requests to advertise or promote
events to District families. Superintendent Burt made the recommendation to take
the CABE version into account when formulating an updated policy and
coordinating regulation. This will be tabled for the time being, and Superintendent
Burt will present a more complete policy and regulation for review.
Suesen Hickey joined the meeting at 5:44PM.
5.3 *1312P General Complaint Procedures
Recommended policy update includes clarification of the general complaint
process.
5.4 *4212.42P Drug and Alcohol Testing for School Bus Drivers
CABE recommended a policy update to align with more recent legislation.
5.5 *5111P Admission/Placement
Policy revision includes treatment of students classified as homeless, and aligns
with recent legislative updates to ensure proper enrollment of new students.
5.6 *5145.14P On-Campus Recruitment
Minor policy edits were discussed by the Committee.

To move agenda item 5.1 Authorizing Minor Policy Edits and 5.3, 5.4, and 5.5
policies 1312P General Complaint Procedures, 4212.42P Drug and Alcohol
Testing for School Bus Drivers, and 5145.14P On-Campus Recruitment, with
possible revisions, to the full BOE for a first reading. Agenda item 5.2 1325P
Advertising and Promotion in the School System will be revised and brought back
to the Policy Committee in March 2021.

12. ESTABLISH MARCH 15, 2021 AGENDA PRIORITIES
Priorities are to finish updating the 5000 series policies, update the 1000 series, and move
into the 4000 Personnel policy series. Priorities also include addressing any immediate need
for COVID-19 related policies. An Immigration policy will be presented to the Policy
Committee at the meeting on March 15, 2021.
