Principal, Bacon Academy
Mr. Peel,
In accordance with Board of Education Policy 6163.1(e & f), and best practices for collection
management as prescribed by the American Association of School Libraries, the Bacon
Academy Library Media Center would like to remove approximately 2000 books from the
library collection.
Titles to be removed have one or more of the following conditions:
● worn, damaged, mildewed and/or soiled
● not circulated in 10 years or longer
● aged, obsolete or time sensitive topics containing inaccurate or incomplete information
● superseded by newer materials
● duplicated in the collection
A preponderance of the items identified for removal have publication dates that render them
inaccurate or misleading relative to contemporary curriculum. We have already begun to
replace popular titles and those needed to support current instructional needs.
All materials have been offered to teachers and staff.
Respectfully Submitted,
Geri Dineen
