We have concerns about sending our four grade school age kids full time especially when our
positivity rate is increasing. We are already going back to phase two for our state and this
decision flies in the face of that reality. Both of us are in high risk groups.
We understand the difficulties that parents have as they are called back into work with having to
find child care and the expense that incurs. However, the increased risk of a super spreader
event at the beginning of the second spike in COVID infections seems counterintuitive to us.
We like the hybrid model because the children get more direct teaching time in the smaller
groups when they are in school and the digital class times mixed with self study activities
promotes independent learning.Having the only option to do home schooling as an alternative
places our children at risk of falling behind as neither of us are qualified to teach the state
curriculum.
Please reconsider this decision. If not, would it be possible to broadcast the classes so our
children could participate remotely.
