On behalf of Shipman & Goodwin LLP, I want to thank the Colchester Board of Education
(the “Board”) for your relationship with our Firm and for the opportunity to represent you
on your legal matters. We are appreciative our relationship with you and we are looking
forward to working with you in 2020.
As you are aware from our longstanding representation of the Board, the Rules of
Professional Conduct require that any rate change in our legal fees be communicated to
you in writing before billing at the new rate. Accordingly, please note that some of our
Firm's legal fee rates will be increased July 1, 2020. Our representation of public sector
entities, including boards of education, includes a significant discount from our standard
hourly rates. After application of the discount, my 2020 hourly rate will be $435, Alyce
Alfano’s rate will be $410 and Natalia Sieira Millan’s rate will be $320 (Natalia’s new
hourly rate should have read $320 in my letter to you dated 11/20/2019). Other associate
support, as needed, will be provided at rates between $260 and $340. Paralegal support
will be provided at $210.
I am also attaching a copy of the Firm’s applicable Terms.of Representation, which have
been developed to provide you with a more complete understanding of the basis on which
our Firm is representing the Board. These Terms are designed to augment, and to be
included as part of, our standard engagement letter. If you have any questions or concerns
about these Terms or any aspect of our engagement by the Board, please let me know.
